Song(s) Of The (Past Few) Day(s)!

Firstly, sorry about the lack of recent posting... I have so much work but somehow have got very little done, so I've been very busy doing not much at all. Anyway, I've posted four days of Song Of The Day, so this one is going to be a little compilation of some of the things I've been listening to this week.

1) 20/10 - Flying Lotus - Phantasm ft. Laura Darlington
As many of you will know, Flying Lotus aka Steven Ellington, released his new album, 'Until The Quiet Comes' on the first of this month. As usual, the album flows beautifully from one song to the next and, as usual, takes you to a completely different place. Though I still prefer 'Cosmogramma', he again takes us on a weird, wonderful dream journey. My personal favourite so far is Phantasm, featuring Laura Darlington, whose voice you might recognise from earlier Flying Lotus tracks, such as Auntie's Lock/Infinitum, Table Tennis or Unexpected Delight. However, I'm also a huge fan of Hunger ft. Niki Randa and Electric Candyman, featuring the amazing Thom Yorke of Radiohead. And with Erykah Badu featuring on the album as well, there's certainly more than enough on there to keep me happy.

2) 21/10 - Crookers ft. Yelle - Cooler Couleur
I've been loving this recently, having found it on the Kitsuni Maison Collection 9, which I can always depend on to introduce me to some wicked songs. One of my favourite things about this tune is the way she (she being the lead singer of Yelle, Julie Budet) says 'what the fuck' in a French accent. 'What ze ferk?'

3) 22/10 - Ntjam Rosie - Again & Again
Since discovering Ntjam Rosie, I have not been able to stop listening to her. Not only is she a genuinely amazing singer, but she has SO much soul and is she not just the most beautiful woman you've ever set eyes on? I'm a little obsessed with her style as well, she looks like a mix between Grace Jones and Solange Knowles. If you like this live performance of her song Again & Again from her album 'Elle', make sure to listen to Space Of You, which is another one of my favourites and has a gorgeous music video. Her fusion of African, jazz, soul and hip hop will soothe and melt you.

4) 23/10 - Robert Glasper Experiment - Smells Like Teen Spirit
We all should know by now that Robert Glasper is a bit of a genius, so I was excited to see that he'd covered Smells Like Teen Spirit, famously written by Nirvana. As usual, Glasper fulfilled and far outreached my expectations, making the grungy, rock classic into a chilled, soulful and harmonically delicious groove. Mmmmm, Rob, play that piano...

4000 Views!

I haven't posted for so long! First things first, got to 4,000! Yay. To continue the theme of animals eating things, here is a dog enjoying some Dairylea dunkers. Don't we all.
